Cagliari City Guided Tour

Cagliari is the city of water and light, surrounded by pools of lagoon or sea water that make it one of a kind. A seaside city and, therefore, a place of landing and contact, Cagliari has an ancient history full of anecdotes, a reflection of the history of the whole of Sardinia.

The tour to visit the city of Cagliari allows you to appreciate both the extraordinary landscape and natural context in which it is located, and the beauty and preciousness of its historic buildings.

Cagliari City Guided Tour will start from the Port of Cagliari area, from its “living room” on the sea in via Roma, we will admire the Basilica of Bonaria, a place dear to the Cagliaritans devoted to the Madonna of Bonaria, and then look at Cagliari and its lagoon from above, from the spectacular panoramic point of Viale Europa which allows you to sweep 360 degrees over Cagliari, its sea, its ponds and lagoons, admire the famous Sella del Diavolo, a promontory that closes the Poetto beach to the west.

From here we will move towards the ancient heart of the city, the Castello district.

We will enjoy the view of another lookout on Viale Buoncammino, after admiring the Roman amphitheater from above. We will enter the Castello area from Porta Cristina and immediately visit the Tower of San Pancrazio, an ancient tower to defend the Pisan walls dating back to 1305.

Here we will see the entrance to the former military Asernale, now used to house the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari and we will pass through the Porta delle Seziate in Piazza Indipendenza. From here we will descend into the narrow streets of the center, pausing in the extraordinary panoramic points of the city and its ancient walls, until we reach Piazza Palazzo, where we will be greeted by the magnificence of the Palazzo Regio, the Ancient City Palace and the prestigious Cagliari Cathedral construction dating back to the thirteenth century.

We will visit the Cathedral, to get lost again in the alleys of medieval origin that lead to the scenic terrace of the Bastione Saint Remy where other privileged points of view on Cagliari will welcome us. From here the descent towards the Elephant Tower, symbol of the city, and finally towards Piazza Yenne and Largo Carlo Felice, a few meters from the seafront where our Cagliari City Guided Tour will end.
