Circular trek from Capo Pecora to Scivu Beach

The Circular trek from Capo Pecora to Scivu Beach is one of the most formidable on the West Coast od Sardinia.
We start from the monumental rocky promontory of Capo Pecora to walk along the coastline, on an easy path of suggestively shaped granite rocks.

The entire route is in the SIC (Site of Community Importance) area of Capo Pecora-Scivu, therefore it allows you to enter a natural oasis of enormous charm. You always move in an elevated position with respect to the sea, with a constant breathtaking view of the granite rocks worked by the wind against the background of a cobalt sea.

The effect is that of walking in a natural garden of stone sculptures. Once you reach the highest point of the trek you will be able to admire the “green coast” (costa verde) in all its beauty, from the Scivu beach to the Piscinas dunes. You will descend towards the beach along a beautiful path among the typical Mediterranean shrubs. The effort of the journey will be rewarded by a stop on the exclusive and unmissable Scivu beach. The return is uphill until you take an old mule track that cuts inland, on flat ground, and allows a quick return to the starting point.

Itinerary

The trek starts from the Capo Pecora car park and follows an easy path above the cliff, enjoying a landscape made evocative by the picturesque conformation of the granite rock. The entire route is in the SIC (Site of Community Importance) area of Capo Pecora-Scivu, therefore it allows you to enter a natural oasis of enormous charm.
After about twenty minutes you arrive at the famous beach with dinosaur eggs, a cove of rounded stones of various sizes surrounded by a grove of tamarisks. From here you go up towards an area of natural stone sculptures, in the Manago area. The walk is a continuous surprise to admire the rocks with the most imaginative shapes that stand out against the crystalline sea.
We always head halfway up the hill towards the highest point of the route, where the remains of an old military watchtower stand out.
Here you can admire the spectacular green coast (costa verde) at a glance, a long strip of sand that goes from Scivu beach to Piscinas.
From here the descent towards the beach begins, passing along a beautiful path halfway up the hill surrounded by lush plants of the Mediterranean scrub, from myrtle, to heather, to arbutus and mastic tree, with the presence also of ferns and species typical of humid areas. You pass over a water channel that ends its course right on Scivu beach, where in winter and spring, a natural waterfall forms a few meters from the sea.
Finally, you arrive at Scivu beach, with sand that "sings" due to the evocative sound that its grains produce when you walk.
A nice refreshing stop and then we are ready to return towards Capo Pecora, following the first uphill path and a more internal track to get to the car park more quickly.
